As 2014 makes way for 2015, some of you will be looking to spend it in Woolacombe. We’ve lived through Christmas and New Year in Woolacombe a few times over the years and and in this article we share what's going on in the venues around this beautiful part of North Devon, as well as our favourite way to spend New Year's Day.

That bit after Christmas but before New Year's Eve

The Woolacombe Bay Hotel

The Hotel is all booked up for the main night but if you want to get away in between Christmas and New Year then the Woolacombe Bay have some super rooms still available – just £97 per person per night, bed and breakfast for a Classic room or £128 per person per night for a real treat in a Luxury Sea View.

Residents are able to use all of the hotel’s facilities including the relaxing Haven Spa.  Located just a few steps away from one of Europe’s finest beaches where better than to blow out the winter cobwebs and enjoy some well deserved you time?

New Year’s Eve

Bar Electric, Woolacombe

We'll publish the information as soon as we get it. Rest assured the Bar Electric put on a good night so it should be fun times all round.

THE BOARDWALK, WOOLACOOMBE

The Boardwalk are hosting a New Year's Eve dinner. The menu is yet to be published but will be available on their website. Prices are £48 per head and there doesn't seem to be a fancy dress element.

The Ship Aground, Mortehoe

They will be open on New Year's Eve but the main day at The Ship is New Year's Day with a live band (Badly Worn Toy) starting at 1.30pm.

The Thatch, Croyde

New Year's Eve fancy dress party starts at 9-ish and runs until late. The theme is 'Game of Thrones' and no tickets are required. Food is served as usual but they only have tables available in the bar. Reservations aren't possible for food so arrive early (the Thatch Veggie Nachos are monstrously good!)

The Woolacombe Bay Hotel, Woolacombe

Last year the Hotel put on a spectacular dinner and saw midnight in with a firework display on their lawn. We're still waiting for this year's details and will update this blog as soon as we have them.

New Year's Day

Go for a walk. On the beach. Maybe take some selfies, or don't. Remember it as the best New Year's Day. Ever.

That's it.

What? You were expecting more? You've got the rest of the year for all that, so use this day to do nothing else. That's our advice anyway, but whatever you do, have a great end to 2014 and an amazing 2015!
