In this series of blog posts we share our favourite beach and surf videos. Some are from Woolacombe, but most are not. They all have one thing in common though; they all capture what Woolacombe feels like on a great day. They are a perfect way to get in the right mood for your holiday.

'Edges of Sanity' by Finisterre UK ditches the tropical facade present in most surf videos, focussing instead on the raw isolation of surfing in winter. Although Woolacombe gets a touch warmer than the Scottish breaks featured here, the vast empty landscape is similar which makes 'Edges of Sanity' particularly relevant right now.

So why are we sharing a video on our site that portrays Woolacombe as wintry, dark, and lonely? Because that's what it's like now as we head deeper in to the cold-water sessions between January and March: Not for everybody but just perfect for some.

Accompanied by a haunting narration from a certain Game of Thrones actor, you might want to wrap up warm before hitting 'play' on this one. Because Winter's Coming.
